Had a gentle reminder that I didn't provide the specs on Muireann's new water
tank.
The tank is a 13 gal polyethylene vessel from Todd Marine Products and
measures 24" L x 10" W x 14" H. It fits nicely where the Rubbermaid tank
was. In fact it is slightly smaller, probably about 3 gallons less volume.
I got the tank from Defender.com and it's their part number 503129 and costs
$100. You'll also need an install kit or you'll need to go get the fittings
at your local Lowes or Home Depot. Defender sells the install kits, one for
straight pipes out and one for 90 deg bends in the piping. The straight one
worked for me. It's Defender #503975 and cost $14. However, you should be
able to find the same parts locally without too much trouble. I bought the
replacement fill line at Home Depot. I've forgotten the inside diameter as
I simply took the fitting with me when I went to buy it. I went with clear
vinyl so I could keep an eye on the condition of the fill line.
The new tank is completely dry & tight, so I can fill until water comes out
of the overflow without fear of ending up with water in the bilge later.
