[Rhodes22-list] Mast raising Re: Hello, from new member

I agree with Stephen on mast raising but I think it is important to 
make it clear if we are talking about the IMF rig or not. The in-mast 
furling system makes the mast considerably heavier than a 
conventional mast. You are raising the weight of the main, the boom 
and perhaps the jib in addition to the weight of the mast. If Derek's 
boat is conventionally rigged (I think Greg PA's is a conventional 
rig) doing it manually becomes much more feasible.

There are numerous designs for mast raising equipment on the Internet 
but if Derek's boat already has the block on the cabin for the 
General Boats crane he might want investigate the cost of a system 
from Stan. It's a proven system.
