Eric,
Good to hear from you. Good to see you've joined the public discussion.

I've got this web site bookmarked for some reason. I assume it has to do with a previous discussion on the ports for the Rhodes. Art is probably a good resource for port replacement, I believe he's done his. And he's in your neck of the woods (but his boat may not be).

See if what they have match yours.

And no, no bowl game in Atlanta this year. Been twice to the Georgia Dome and lost both times so we are like you and will try to break the jinx by watching at home. We would definitely like to beat some Tennessee butt though! Go Hokies!! - rob

Ben,

It has been kind of quite around here, tying to stir things up? I about fell over laughing!!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Eric, I live in Atlanta, I have a 1980 Rhodes that I've been working on for about a year. I'm more of the quiet listening type, and try to stay out of trouble by searching the archives before posting questions!! Now I want to introduce myself and make sure that I include all of the approprate info such as where I'm from, what year of boat, standard main or IMF, standard by the way. I have been lurking around the list since before I got "Time Out" so I feel like I know everybody. I do not have much wisdom to share, so I'll just keep listening mostly!

A few projects I'm working on are getting the electrical system up, with a solar panel for charging, new battery and wiring, all of this money, just to have some tunes on the boat!! I keep it in the water at Lake Allatoona and do mostly day sailing with an occasional overnight with my 13 yr old son. Also working on rebedding all deck fixtures to stop some small but stubborn leaks. In the spring, I'd like to replace all of the ports, any suggestions on where to find ones that fit, without having to cut? (I know, search the archives!!) Once I get it water tight, I want to change out all of the cushions, but I'll probably be broke by then. I also want a traveller bar, would Stan sell one I could use to retro fit? I'm scared to call him until I have enough money to make it worth his while, don't want to suck his time and resourses supporting an old boat like mine!! ( yes, I have a dry sense of humor, just joking everyone.) The few times I called him, he has been very helpful, " !
Ask the list"... oops there I go again. Really, I appreciate GB and all they do for us. I love the Rhodes and hope they are still around when I can afford a new boat!!

Thanks to everyone for making the list fun and very useful!! If you are ever in Atlanta and want to sail, let me know.

Personal Note: All the bigal types can stop reading.

Rob, are you coming to the bowl game? Most of my family has refused to come in hopes that maybe we can win the game. So far, every game we play at the Georgia Dome that they have all come down for, we have lost. Go Hokies!!
