Blanche,
Thank you for the humor. This forum has been around for many years and
accumulated a lot of boat knowledge in its archives. It is well worth the
effort to learn how to research them.
This forum has recently got infected with 'Cabin Fever'. Your humor is
greatly appreciated as a change of pace.
Keep in mind that the Rhodes 22 is a limited production sailboat and that
there are not huge quantities of R22’s out there.
As to boats in your area, the closest one with someone on this forum is
Arizona. There used to be one north of L. A. and it still may be there, but
they never participated much on this forum. However, they did respond to
emails. So a search of the archives might reveal a R22 near you. Do not be
affraid to contact someone directly. And there may always be one at a local
marina that keeps to themselves.
Keep in mind that the guy who started it all is still around. Stan Spitzer
started this whole thing and while he is in his 80’s is still at it in
Edenton, North Carolina. In fact, he will take interested folks on a demo
sail on an appointment basis. Imagine flying east then trying to get to a
remote coastal corner of North Carolina. It is very different than L. A.
Again, thanks for the humor.
Ed K
Addendum:
"How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?"
