  Wally,
I slip my boat, also, but trailer to at least 1 or 2 other lakes every year for
a couple days.It takes me about 1.5 hrs to rig by myself, but I'm in no hurry
and 53 years old.I pull her with a '03 Toyota 4-runner,and the 2 axle
trailer. What you lose in rigging time, you get back in not having to hoist
sails, bag sails ,chase halyards up the mast and such.
The Rhodes is truly a wonderful boat,I've had mine for 5 years and I'm still
finding out stuff thats neat. Two years ago,I took her up to Sandusky bay, left
the marina,sailed about 5 miles,had the tiller in Stan's tiller holder,and
was standing in the cabin gazeing around when something came flying at me.I
ducked, and the lower starboard shroud hit the top of the extended pop top and
swung back out to take another crack at me.Well, the wind was coming over the
starboard side,so that shroud was supposed to be working.I reefed the jib to
about 90% and the main to about 80% and swung the tiller to come about, but
didn't release the jib sheet, which is the easiest way for me to hove-to,with
the wind coming over the port side and taking the load off the starboard
shrouds. Then I reached into the tool box and grabbed another pin for the
turnbuckle, and stood in the cabin and installed it ,with a brand new cotter
ring. Then I released the jib sheet, came about and put that slacker back to
work.
the R-22 is a single handers dream.I used to have a Com-Pac -16 also,and If
my wife didn't want to go sailing, about half the time I wouldn't go either.I
just didn't like going forward to hank on the jib and fight to get the bolt
rope in the boom and up the mast slot.Thats way too much work for a
pleasureable pastime. I don't even get "two foot itus " anymore, since NOBODY
makes a sailboat that is this easy or fun ,in any size.

take a real close look,
Jerry Lowe
