Now this is a subject I can handle. I have tried many different devices
including the lil suckers. They work great with plastic cups and cans, but the
larger styrofoam cups don't fit in them. Since I am usually at the helm, I
prefer a gimbled holder on each side hanging from the stern rail. They
aren't in the way of anything so nobody is getting cut or bruised during
normal sailing operations. For the crew, they are on their own. If they can't
hang on to a cup and stay in their appointed positions, they don't have any
business being out with me. Actually I've looked at several cup holders but
haven't really found anything that suited my needs. The lil suckers work
great, but if the gelcoat gets a little dirty or chalked, they won't grab.

ok, I am getting used to my new boat and have worked out a lot of issues
but
now have a really important question. I think this one goes out to Rummy.
What are the preferred cup holder configurations for the Rhodes 22?
Gimbaled hanging off the rail? suction cups to the bulkhead? I finally
convinced the admiral to join me for a sail today and she has decided cup
holders are absolutely necessary.
