[Rhodes22-list] yamaha 9.9 trouble

Ben, Rob & I always listen for "small craft warnings" for our calling.
The R22 in our bay is well-suited to adverse conditions. When we're
together, I'll show you photos of our 60 mile trip around LBI that
ended in a major storm with horizontal rain, horizontal lightning, and
a water spout forming in the background towards Atlantic City. Rob at
the helm looked like his namesake, Moses. We wouldn't have wanted to
be in almost any other boat than the Rhodes in this. This "judge"
thing has crimped some of his sailing time, but hope to catch up soon
now that the primary's over.

Re: the crack, the fiberglassing has made it stronger than new, but I
also have nylon web straps (like battery tie downs with brackets)
around the top, and over the sides through the front of the shaft for
extra security. My need for the linkage comes up quick with cross-
currents and cross winds, I'd be lost without it.

Will see Rob next week and send your best. Look forward to getting
together.
Jay
