Hi Leland,
Looking good in the hammock, looking good in the boat.  The boat seems to make a lot of people look just cool.
 
I just had a quick look at my boat, and my genoa tracks run all the way back, about 3ft aft of the winch.  Based on that look I might do a fixed hinge installation like you. After I offer up the bimini and get a visual, I will have a better sense of how to install it.
 
Thanks for giving me a heads up about my picture on the Lewis & Clark Sailing Club Website.  I had no idea it was there.  For some reason the links you sent would not open, but I went to the Clubs website and found one of the pictures.
 
These guys do a lot of racing and I think I will join the club; the folks are fun and there is a lot of experience people in the club.  I have a slip at the Conkling Park Marina, which is on the southern end of Lake Coeur d' Elene.  Here I will do most of my sailing and overnighting; its just prettier, with a lot more quiet coves, but I will crew for other racers at the Lewis & Clark Sailing Club and learn from them.  
 
At some point before the season is over, I will race against them in my boat, and see where my skill level is.

The handsome fellow relaxed in the hammock is me.  Stan installed the bimini
without putting it on the Genoa track.  It's never been in the way, but you
do need to remember to run the sheets inside or outside the bimini supports
when running the sheets between the shrouds.

Using the Genoa tracks makes sense to me for flexibility.  I can't think of
any problems, but maybe someone who has done it can tell you of any
negatives.  

I don't like drilling holes in my boat but Stan installed it in the ideal
location.  When deployed it matches up perfectly with the open poptop.  When
stored it leans just right against the aft end of the poptop or lays well on
the closed poptop.  

I rarely use my bimini, but it really adds to the ambience of your cockpit.
