Good observation.  I have wondered about that possibility also.  One would not one of those straps to start moving on its own.  With broad straps ( much surface area contact), and a relatively clean hull, there should be enough friction to prevent any slippage; however it doesn't take much to attach an insurance line from one sling to another to prevent that possibility.  But if these guys are doing this daily, I have never done it.

Interesting discussion, but may I diverge a little?  Both boats portrayed
are held up by slings without safety lines between them.  Maybe that's not
so bad in the Spring, but with a bottom covered with slippery gunk during
haul-out, the boat could slip out.
