A solar vent probably isn't a bad idea on any boat, but you might want to
wait a year to see if you need one. I live in the same humid area as you,
and during the hottest and wettest times, I might develop a little mildew on
the ceiling of the poptop. Wipe it down with a Clorex towelette and you
won't see any more the rest of the season.
When you say "cabin fan," do you mean for ventilation or comfort? I'm not a
cruiser but most of my cruising friends have fans strategically placed
throughout their boats. I'd go for a portable battery-operated fan that I
could move around. I think they make low-powered electric portable fans
that don't draw much from your marine battery.
