[Rhodes22-list] Objective - Let's pitch in and help Alice. Motorized Lift...

The motor lift on my boat carries a heavy Yamaha 9.9. and on occasion as I
watch the lift slowly lower the engine I will notice some slack begin to
occur in the belt... I then reach over and gently rock the engine once or
twice fore and aft and the engine immediately falls the inch or so it takes
to eliminate the slack. The tracks must be parallel and precisely spaced to
avoid being too far apart or too close together.
It's hard for me to picture a situation where the motor would fail to lower
and the cause would not be apparent. Does the motor seem to be leaning one
way or the other? Is it hanging up on both tracks or just one side? Alice
are you guessing the problem is electrical, or mechanical? If mechanical is
it the strap or the track/roller interface? Are the rollers on the tracks
rotating as the motor lowers? Or is the motor for the winch humming with no
apparent power to the winch? If the motor hangs up going down will the
system bring the motor back up? Let us know and we'll be able to help (or
not).
