Joe,
I have had good results with a product called "marine tex" available at WM.
On the older rhodes the centerboard is the same size and shape as the rudder
blade and mine was pretty chewed on when I got my boat. I used the putty to
rebuild the leading and trailing edges of the centerboard once the stuff
hardened it sanded out pretty easily. 50 or 60 grit paper is a good choice
for removal of old paint and preparing the surface for the putty. Do the
cracks run down the length of the edge? If so I would use a fine blade to
try to work some epoxy into the crack to fill it as much as possible. It
dosen't hurt to use some e 2000 barrier coat to seal the area once you have
it sanded into shape. Then paint to match or just do the whole blade just
cause. No more than a 2 six pack (worker lube) job max.
