Joe, congratulations on your new Rhodes. I am sorry to hear you had a trying
1st day. I am sure it will get better. Coincidentally, I too am now living
it the very toasty state of NC in a town called Cedar Grove (about 10 miles
North of Hillsborough), after relocating 13 years ago for a Philadelphia
suburb. We are in the serious discussion phase with Stan now, trying to
choose our boat.
Last weekend we sailed Stan's with mixed results. The 1st day was great and
we did well, even docking fairly successfully. The next day was a
completely diffrent story. We were way over our head in terms of wind
(novices that we are) and waves. We couldn't get the main reefed and ended
up bringing the boat back to the shop. The good news is that we and the
boat are all in 1 piece. For this I was very greatful.
I wanted to check and see if you had evaluted Smith Mountain lake as a home
base? It is also about 2 hours from you. We are much closer to Jordan than
you are and had not even considdered it. May I ask why you chose it? Any
insight would be appreciated, since we are trying to find a good home.
Thanks
Eileen
