Mike:  The anchor covers that area.  I can see the chainplate running down the bow but there is a plastic plate screwed over it and the anchor is fastened to that plate.

Mike, Bill,

I think this forestay rigging will be a new one on all of us.  It might be good 
to assess damage to the boat, probably to repair locally to Bill.  A new 
chainplate can replace the front lower with an external tang bolted thru the 
side of the cabin.  I have never seen a chainplate fail like this, but can 
imagine the intense shock force created with the forestay failure that occured.  


My main point is to be thankful that no one was injured and make a cool 
evaluation of what remedy is needed.  Post additional pictures as you can, and 
the skippers here will be able to help you.  You have a wealth of talent and 
experience with Mike and the other men and women of the fleet.  It appears that 
the former owner did not use good judgement with the placement of the forestay.
