Alex,
A simple solution to your problem would be to remove the Windex and install
a short piece of plastic tubing, sliding it down above the piece that
covers the whips mount to the base. Reinstall the Windex and the cap that keeps
it in place. This way you won't have to remount anything.

Hi,
I have purchased a Metz VHF antenna and a Windex that fits on the stainless
whip of the antenna, as I look at the masthead, the highest I can mount the
antenna/windex combo gives me perhaps 1/2" of clearance for the windex,
which seems too little.
It looks like I am going to have to fabricate a bracket to raise the
antenna
higher, clearing the raised forward portion of the masthead casting. How do
other list members mount their VHF antenna?
Also, while I am working here, should I install a masthead light? I have a
light on the forward part of the mast about half way up, and a small round
stern light on the transom.
Also, what is the ring on the upper forward part of the masthead for?
Here are some pictures to clear up my poor description.
Thanks,
Alex
