[Rhodes22-list] All tied up

Joe, sorry, you did ask that question. In addition to what others
have written...

3/8" line is fine but I switched to 1/2" and feel more manly for it.
Also like the braided nylon lines 'cause their softer. -)

I have lines fixed to the dock (also have a floating dock), short
lines perpendicular from the dock cleats to the fore and aft boat
cleats. And two spring lines from fore and aft dock cleats to center
side boat cleat. Fore and aft lines keep the boat positioned close to
dock, and spring lines keep the boat centered lengthwise. This set up
works well in particular if the waves hit the bow or stern, so the
spring lines have a lttle give. Hefty fenders between dock and boat a
must. If you're at a permanant dock, you might want to invest in
fenders mounted on the dock.
