Mike,
It's a D80...but I think it is the lens...the 18-200 VR SWM ...I can hear the motor w/in the lens running but the lens will not focus.
We'll see in the AM.
Luckily there is a fine independent camera repair shop in Richmond...under 2 hrs away, so I will take it there in the AM. I have a photo shoot on Sunday...a family reunion...3 generations....what a time for this to happen....Luckily my BF has the D70 & the 18-55 lens. Not VR, but I'll be able to muddle through. Just going to have to work harder.Will let you know what the problem is...

Add to the joke a choice about a 4'9" female photographer whose major, 
always-on-the-camera-go-to -LENS JUST DIED! It will still work in manual 
mode but my eyesight is not always good enough ..the camera actually focuses 
better than I do.
And a photo shoot on sunday w/16 people...w
Luckily there is an exceptional camera repair shop in Richmond, only 1.5 hrs 
away. Heading there in the AM.
