Art,
Chesapeake is definitely coastal but we have some of the lowest 
insurance rates of any coastal area due to the somewhat benign 
conditions (mud, no rocks, well marked for navigation, good weather 
prediction, the hurricanes are tropical storms by the time they get 
to the northern Bay, etc., etc.) Our insurer is Boat US and if I 
recall correctly they ask where we sail not if it's lake or coastal - 
they make the determination. I do know that a lot of the distance 
cruisers stick around up here and don't venture south until Nov. 1 to 
keep their insurance companies happy.
