[Rhodes22-list] Rhodes22-list Digest, Vol 2344, Issue 1

Art,
Rushed through the show.
Beautiful weather brought out the crowds.
Most expensive boat I boarded was the Gunboat66 at just over four million. Very impressive salon and backporch. Very unimpressive berths, heads, and galley. All about the speed. Nice toy.
Best accomodations went to the Privilege60. You could charter it for $25,000/week but I think it was only about half the price of the Gunboat.
The best overall boat was the Rhodes22. Lots of space. Peter was on deck. Elton in the hole. Chris, Stan, Mac, and I had room to spare in the cockpit. Plenty of room for Mary Lou and Fred--sorry I missed you two.
Reps at the show included builders, designers, actual sales reps, and ad hoc sales reps pulled off the street who knew nothing about boats in general. An elderly sailor noticed I was checking out the J95 with the keel/centerboard similar to our Rhodes. I was telling him all about the boat and how it was at the top of my wish list if I ever got rid of my boat (highly unlikely). He said it was his boat and thanked me for my comments. I thought he had bought the boat but he meant that he had designed it. He was Rod Johnstone and had just turned the J-Boat company ownership over to his son. Fortunately I hadn't said anything too stupid but I certainly couldn't have felt any more stupid.
Other than that it was a great show.
