[Rhodes22-list] Ethanol and Tohatsu 6hp vs Torqueedo

Chris
I have done extensive research on Torqueedo and depending upon your
area ie: currents and tides
I believe for me ,in Brooklyn with short trips across the Lower Harbor
and desires to go north up river,
the Torqueedo Cruise 4.0 would be enough IF I could find the right
batteries.
The entire problem with going electric outboard is to find the lightest
and most efficient cell design
which is definitely something close to Lithium Ion. My last venture on
the Torqueedo site didnt find
any batteries spec other than a mysterious picture of an orange cell
with no specs attached.
Given all that, I have NOT had ONE problem with my new Tohatsu 6hp,
alternator inside for charging my 1 house bat (Flooded cell)
with 20" shaft and manual pull start. I add the Tohatsu ethanol
treatment I purchase every season for about $5. and it lasts a good 5
months.
My engine gets pulled up on a std Garelick mount and flushed using a
bucket after every use. She starts on first pull over 95% of the time.
Im staying with gasoline for the near future until battery technology
improves and is more in the market to power an E outboard and charge
in 4-5hrs.
