Thanks for your suggestion. I'd thought of using one of those big blue tarps but was afraid of degeneration & color transfer in the FL sun. I'll look into the silver. If budget permits, I think I'll still go with a made to order cover, but the budget is becoming less & less permissive.

20 by 30 heavy duty silver tarp, extra supports for mast and padding on top to protect the tarp from "corners".
The metal roof helps too!
We can get a couple of feet of lake effect snow here in South West Michigan
