[Rhodes22-list] centerboard questions

Joe,
Definitely a diamond board. I too found my bolts a bit loose and wondered how tight they need to be. I ended up tightening them by feel to a bit more than snug but not so much that they would break. I did this after getting back from my trip to the Dry Tortugas where I experienced an unnerving quantity of water in my bilge. I wondered if it was coming in from loose bolts on the centerboard cap, or possibly from the pendant tube. I'm still trying to figure that out, but have not since experienced the conditions that we had out there. Has anyone experienced any leakage related to the pendant tube?

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] centerboard questions

Hi gang,
We're having a little bit of nice 60 degree weather here in Tennessee in
the middle of February so I celebrated by pulling the centerboard from
Harmony. I've got some questions and am hoping you can provide answers.
Does anyone know if there is a torque spec for the 50+ bolts that hold
the cap on the centerboard well? Some of the bolts on Harmony were not
very tight, some were kinda tight, and some were fairly snug.
There was no hose in the slots on either side of the board. I guess
that's why the board rattled so much even when it was up.
Take a look at the pictures. Can anyone tell me if the centerboard is
the diamond board or the older standard board?
One picture shows the centerboard pin. It looks to me like it is solid
fiberglass. ?? Does this make sense? Seems like I ought to replace
this with a stainless pin with plastic bushings.
One picture shows the connection of the centerboard pendant to the
board. Not sure whether I like it or not. Anybody have any opinions
about its reliability?
Thanks,
Joe
