Yes, thanks for the clarification. The OEM line clutch does not release on impact. The releasing rudder cleat will. I use the releasing rudder cleat in lieu of the line clutch. - rob

Rob,
I think you meant this, but just to be clear. A releasing rudder cleat
should only be used to allow the rudder blade to rotate up. This would
replace the OEM line clutch.
To secure the rudder assembly to the transom pintles, a spring tab should be
used on the upper pintle to grasp the gudgeon. This allows the whole rudder
assembly to pop off if, say, a wave drops the boat onto the bottom. Loosing
the rudder assembly is preferable to tearing the pintles out of the transom.
Stan should have integrated pintle/spring tabs that fit his stock gudgeons.
