Joe, the addendum to Murphy's law reads: "What hits the fan is not
necessarily distributed equally."  I've torn off the mast too but not while
raising.  Like Jim said... don't ask.  But GB's mast hoisting system is the
greatest but you do need the raised mast crutch but you don't need the mast
bale--although it's inexpensive and handy--I added it later.  You can raise
using the shrouds.  Glad you didn't get hurt much.  Very scary when that
happens.
