Bob:

     A new trailer from Stan is the wisest move, clearly.  That would be the way 
I would wish to go, were it not for certain limiting circumstances:  First, my 
post retirement finances, which leave me wanting in ways. This is really only 
the first retirement, and I need to continue to invest and save in order to best 
finance the real retirement in ten or twelve years.  Second, I must move from NC 
to suburban Philadelphia, where homes cost a great deal more than the amount for 
which I will sell mine here.  And, come on, there's always a kid with plans to 
move back home, or a water line that breaks, or the unnamed catastrophic 
situation that bleeds the precious nest egg's yellow yoke out to a tiny bubble 
that is a blatant mockery what it once was.  Life in America!

     So, being the needfully prudent planner (or should I say, "being the 
obedient assistant of the needfully prudent planner") I must go the safest 
route.  However, I appreciate every bit of informed advice I get from the list. 
 So, keep those cards and letters coming.  ttfn.

Joe,
You could always buy a new trailer from Stan who gets them built by Triad 
Trailers.  I did that about 4 years ago and have not regretted it.  Got a new 
single axle and it is so important to have the newer, heavy duty design, 
especially if you are trailering long distance and/or are on salt water.
