Ken
I've often wondered if my motor broke would I have enough guts to try to
sail back to my slip.
Late last summer it happened to a friend of mine with a Rainbow24. The
boat is heavier than a Rhodes and although it might have a little less
freeboard, the bow still sits pretty high. He straddled the bow and
rowed himself back to his slip.
I figure if a robust octogenarian can do it I'd at least give it a try.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Motor mount cracks
Ken,
I had cracks in my motor mount and it eventually failed. The mount broke
while I was motoring back to the dock. -- It was an adventure - I
grabbed
the motor and tied it off to the stearn rail but it then pushed up
against
the ruttter and made steering very difficult - I let out some sail and
fortunately the wind was favorable - it pushed me closer to the dock.
Ultimately, I along with my Australian life guard nephew swam/towed the
boat
in to a hoist to save the motor and free the rutter.
I think you should replace the mount.
