[Rhodes22-list] New Sailor Fears

Welcome to the Rhodes 22 Bill,

I agree , give your daughter the tiller. But more importantly just
use common sense and stay off the lake if it looks like
gusty winds and summer squalls are comin'.

I ve singlehanded my old R22 in 20knots going against the wind, just
a bit of headsail out and motor going full out when she turned and
was beam to the breeze she didn't budge, although you feel she
wants to , the Rhodes is an able boat up to about 30knots. Its not
fun in heavy air my boat doesn't tack that well above 20knts, but
thats probably my own inexperience with that condition.

Enjoy the boat, enjoy the lake, the kids will love the boat and want
to sail her all over!

Safe Sails
Lou
