Ben,
You've gotten a great reactive response from Rob when things go bad on the water. Using the manual start is important like our "emergency" and designed for a somewhat easy over-ride. Also, my 2-year old push-button kill switch was shorting, not allowing me to start until disconnected. So as an interim fix, I have to use the tethered safety switch till i pull the boat next week.

On starting, I've found every Yamaha mechanic/expert has their recommended start procedure. I was told 9 yrs. ago to 1) put the shift control in gear (neutral doesn't allow you to choke), 2) give choke two pumps to full throttle, and 3) back to neutral to start. This has performed flawlessly, first try, maybe second push at most, even with some bad gas, weak battery, etc. I do have a Blue Seas Battery Switch that will combine or switch batteries, if needed.
