Congratulations! You are going to love it! It was a pleasure talking
to you at the boat show.
Seeing as how you liked my advice the first time, I'll chime in on
this one too.
Colors are very subjective but we have multiple shades of blue on
Fretless (a white boat with navy bottom paint). The Sunbrella on the
sails and the bimini are Navy. The cockpit cushions are closer to
what Sunbrella calls Pacific Blue (though they are the Phifertex mesh
- not sure what color Phifertex calls it.) I wouldn't worry about the
color of the pop-top enclosure - you'll be using it at anchor and at
the dock but probably won't leave it up when you are away from the
boat. Last I knew, Stan only had new ones only in a blue that was a
little brighter than Navy - that may have changed but you'll probably
have to go with what he's got. If he has used ones, there may be more
choice in colors but ask about the style (placement of windows and
screens) and the condition as there is a lot of variation.
I'd definitely go with the navy bimini, I would think the white would
show every bit of pollution, dirt and bird poop.
If you are going to be trailering the boat, I'd definitely recommend
a trip to Edenton to pick it up. When we did that in 1998 we were
able to sail the boar for a couple of days on Albemarle Sound and
then have Stan do a couple of little things before we brought it
home. Got a sail with Stan which taught us more about sailing our
Rhodes in an hour or so than we have learned since.
Best,
Mary Lou
