The thought behind this rather novel idea is that Stan's time is very
limited and he could easily spend all his time, no kidding, all his time
corresponding with all the owners, former owners, and want to be owners and
not build or refurbish another boat. The business is composed of Stan, Rose
his wife and a few hands on builders and technicians. When he refurbishes a
Rhodes he ends up with all sorts of cool used, and slightly used parts that
go into a large black hole in Edenton. It takes time (and time is money) to
find the odd part for a '76 Continental, or '83 retrofitted IMF or left
handed widget someone might be looking for. His advice is valuable he is in
fact a consultant and as such should be compensated. Oddly those
inexpensive project boats often require the most attention but they are
often the cheapest (well initially anyway) yet he still will offer you
access to parts at a discount and advice for 10% of the purchase price (or
if the seller pays 5% then your cost would only be 5%). Ron, for you I
think it is a bargin. The list of course will give free advice and contrary
to the old saying "you get what you pay for" you get a lot more than that on
the list. However there are often questions only Stan can answer and advice
that can save you a lot of time and money. You will need a lot of unique
parts potentially, and Stan may be the only source so a discount is nice.
Oh and if you make a pilgrimage down there to shop the emporium of used
stuff you can probably stay at the "Hilton". That is a bed in an old office
of the current production facility surrounded by all things R22. No doubt
Stan can explain this better. Send him an email and inquire about the
benefits of his program. Whatever your choice you will never regret buying
the boat (well until you get it in the water and sailing, then you wont)

Okay so today when reading the Rodes22-list emails I saw two different
references to a 10% registration feel to GB when purchasing a Rhodes.
Can someone educate me? I did not see a reference to this on the website so
I don't know what it is...
Thanks,
