Mary Lou--
Yes, that's the Apollo Beach.
(For those who don't know the area, Palmetto is on the beautiful Manatee River, across from--north of--Bradenton. AB is on the east side of Tampa Bay, just above Ruskin which is just above Palmetto. AB is in fact part of Ruskin, which is on the lovely Little Manatee River.)
Amelia Island & the Bradenton beaches are great, as is the park in Palmetto where the river meets the Gulf.
I was originally planning to look farther south, in the Ft Myers/Cape Coral area. But I know no one there and have good friends in Ruskin. Indeed, one friend's grandfather was a founder of Ruskin, which began as a Utopian community based on the ideas John Ruskin. One might hesitate to call it "Utopian" today (!) but I enjoy the small-town nature of the place. & as you know, Sarasota, St. Pete & Tampa are all nearby.
Within a year or two I'll move to AB & stop being a "splitter."
If we don't meet on the Chesapeake, maybe we can get together when we're both in Florida. Come help me learn to sail my Rhodes!

Peter, Is that Apollo Beach FL? I seem to recall that you split your
time between somewhere up north and FL.
We often spend a few weeks each winter outside of Palmetto.
