Well, let's see what photos I have stored away. My apologizes to whomever's photos I repost.
Found this one of the cabin floor. The bilge pump is in the center (which exit hose to the sink drain). The bulkhead is right behind the hose. The compression post is the port edge of the bulkhead. Most of us have the head located behind the bulkhead (marine toilet or porta potti).

Here is a picture of the V berth. Bulkhead, compression post, and porta potti on the starboard side. The compression post in my boat is less than a 4X4 and larger than a 2X2. A 2X4 that's braced so it won't bow??

John Shulick actually did away with the compression post, spanned that area, and supported the span on both sides. I've lost those photos.
Lastly, this modified boat got rid of the bulkhead, installed settee all around, and used a metal compression post (see attachment). Opens up the boat quite a bit, but now no place for the head. - rob
