Thanks for the suggestion. I was surprised they used the stanchions. The bow and stern overhang the cradle by a good deal; they may have found it hard (or impossible) to run the straps to the cradle without risking serious chafing. Also, I suspect having in effect 2 straps on each side of the hull stabilized the hull in a way a single strap to each padeye would not. I'll only know when I'm there, but meanwhile I'll ask the guys who did the job. Let's hope there are no more tropical storms this year to test their work!

Peter,

I'd like to suggest the pad eyes on the transom and bow would be stronger
than stanchions for your tie down straps.
