[Rhodes22-list] Lake George Boat

Jason,
FYI, I bought a Rhodes 22 this past December from a gentlemen who had it
stored and serviced at Yankee Boating Center. I would be very careful as
they are not honorable people. The work they have done to my boat is
clearly substandard. The stern was cracked at the motor mount. When I
disassembled the mount to repair it the reinforcement looked like the work
of an 8 year old child - two plastic discs on the top bolts and a 4 x 1"
piece of plywood across the bottom bolts. Lots of other work is not good
and I am still not in the water yet this season - maybe next week. To add
insult to injury, they offered to service the trailer before I took the boat
home which seemed like a good idea since I had to tow all the way to the
Boston area. Their $50 quote turned into a $250 bill even though all they
did was check the lights and grease the bearings - no problems were found.
Forewarned is forearmed.

Jason,From the pictures it looks to be a very nice boat and the fact that it
is in fresh water and kept on a lift suggests that it might be in good
condition. However, only a close inspection will tell for sure because
pictures can be deceiving. Agree that the sails, trailer and motor should
be in top notch condition. Last, the asking price is only that and you
might be able to get it for less which might be a good deal.Bob K
