Two possibilities as I see it. One, the water may have been on board and settled up under the V berth. With the boat in the water sitting at a different angle, the water has shifted from under the V berth to the bilge. I had this experience with our '86. After you bail it out you should see smaller and smaller amounts of water.
Two, check around the center board cap to see if you can feel and dampness from water seeping in from the cap.
My bet would be "one."

First time!
Just put my 86 in the water on Sunday. Thursday I noticed water in the
bilge ( about 2 inches). I checked the pump and yes it does work.
Haven't moved the boat from the slip and have not had any heavy weather.
So my question to you experienced Rhodies is: where should I check to see
where the water is entering the boat.
The water tank is empty as I emptied it when I first purchased the boat and
also replaced the OLD lines both to and from the tank, but have not
refilled it yet.
The laz. is dry.
Any thought or experiences?
Thanks
Cary Tolbert
