No photos since the boat is not mine and is in Solomon's however the following is a link to the CDI Furler FF2 PDF Manual. Page 2 has a nice diagram of the entire system that includes the forestay that is shown in more detail on page 5. The top of the forestay wire has a hardware fitting that includes a toggle that connects to the top of the mast. The toggle remained attached to the mast and the hardware at the end of the forestay wire failed causing a collapse of the entire assembly into the water. The CDI manual link below has some nice illustrations and description about the system, parts, assembly and function. The FF2 is the model that is on the Solomon's R22 and also on my boat.

Cowie,
Is it possible to post a picture of where the failure took place. I would, others also, like to eyeball my furled rig for this. Thanks for the heads up.

Mary Lou:
Thanks for the information. Sound like a nice set up.
BTW I went sailing this past Saturday out of Solomon's on an older R22 in a steady 10kt wind close haul and just made it to the other side of the Chesapeake Bay when all of a sudden the top of the genoa exploded off the top of the mast and was suddenly trailing in the water alongside the boat. The good news is that Stan has provided extra stays to keep everything else in place while we retrieved the genoa and motored back to port. It appears that the forward stay that runs inside the CDI FF2 Furler simply snapped at the top fitting. Seems like an odd piece to break and I suppose the only way to fix it is to order a new stay from CDI.

Fred informs me that I had it backwards on the hinged leg that
supports the cabin berth. The forward end of the berth rests on a peg
attached to the compression post. This allows the hinged panel to
lift to access the head without disturbing the rest of the berth. The
hinged leg supports the stern end of the berth because that support
had broken off the step on our boat.
