Would you believe that I have no idea what a carburetor looks like or what
it does?  Sure, I could google it, but I don't accidentally want to turn
into a real man or anything.

Bob,
They replaced it or rebuilt it? I can't think of anything you could do to it
that would require replacing a carburetor short of physically harming  it.
