[Rhodes22-list] Rhodes22 Map

I'm sure some of you remember the Rhodes22 Owners map we created several years ago. I forget the name of the program, but it worked pretty well until.... it didn't. And then the company just sort of disappeared.

I thought I'd try the same idea again with Google Maps. I created a Rhodes22 Owners map using Google maps and set it up so anyone can edit it. However, it's unlisted, so only those who find out about it thru an email will know it exists. It will not show up on search engines.

Right now, I just have my location in Ohio and General Boats location in Edenton. Here is the link:

You will need to be signed into Google to add your location or make edits. Here is their support page which should answer any questions.

I found adding the photo can be a bit tricky. You'll have to use the "Rich Text" option and then click on the photo icon (last one on the right side) You can't upload a photo, but you can link to one that exists on the web. For instance, the one that is on General Boats location is just linked to the photo on their web site (by clicking on it and selecting "Copy Image Address"). Similarly, I did the same thing for mine with a photo on Flickr. If the size of the photo is too big, it won't work.

It is amazing how much these maps have improved. By using the "Satellite" option, I was able to place the icon right in the correct slip. (Not sure where my boat was that day, but I suspect I had it at home repairing one of my early mishaps.)

It will be interesting to see where others are.
