That is NOT the way to do it. You anchor the dock line on the boat instead
of the dock so that when you let the slack end loose you can recover it
quickly.? You don't leave the line in the water at the dock.? If our
neighbor decided to leave soon after you, he could foul his prop with your
line.

Good progress on no-name R22 (Maybe I'll call her Waif). About $75 spent on
Glass Resin and Chopped strand and I have the concrete/lead ballast
re-glassed in and the cabin sole stringers in place. The original cabin sole
was a single sheet of 3/4" ply which must have been installed before the
deck was put on... there is no way to get the new floor in as a single
sheet. I am splitting the new floor-boards into 3 easily removal panels.

Now onto new/refurbished cabin fittings. My wife insists on an all marble
galley.... This may not happen, but clearly the galley needs re-doing!

Are you going to get the same structural integrity as a single sheet?

I my opinion the cabin sole does not add to the integrity. The stringers do
possibly add some longitudinal stiffness, but the floor boards are just
there to have something convenient to stand on.
Cheers

Hank,
I understand. If you anchor the line to the boat which I agree is better
practice, what would you do to retrieve the line so you could move forward
without fouling your prop and before backing into the rocks in the
breakwall?
I'm a novice and I would really like to learn the best technique.
Thanks!

You use a longer line and anchor it near you in the cockpit. You can then
run it through a fair lead and pull it on deck as soon as you release it.

If you watch the tail end of the video where you can see the motor, you
will notice that the prop wash is coming to the surface. He's losing power
and
needs to trim it down a bit.

Cutting the cabin sole into two or more sections is a perfectly acceptable
solution. Before screwing it down, you should treat the underside and the
edges with resin to seal it from the moisture in the bilge. This will make
it last much longer. This was done on my previously owned '81 in the late
80s and has keep the floor in excellent shape.
