Don,
I'm sure you could find a bimini/umbrella that would work well attached to
the stern rail. The verticle supports on Stan's bimini are short enough to
fit under the boom, so you can sail with the bimini deployed. I don't think
you could attach it to the stern rail in a practical way.
When not in use you can rest it upright against the mainsheet if your boom
is raised enough, or you can pull the boom down tight to keep the bimini
from falling forward or backward.
While underway I lean mine against the raised poptop or directly on the
closed poptop. In the slip I lay it unsecured on the closed poptop. It's
too heavy to blow around but it does make dirty marks on the poptop.
