Rhodies re IMF outhaul cars:
thought I had mentioned this earlier. we had recently re-designed the
IMF outhaul system to provide much better sail shape control, both from
the outhaul adjustment and from the traveler boom adjustments. We have
also made this part beefier as the result of some reports of those
moored in open areas having had material fatigue.
with this current set up the space between the sail and the car (the
sail clew and the boom) never changes so draft along the boom is easily
set as desired plus, with the sail now not able to move away from the
boom based on outhaul line tension, the sail remains in line with the
boom, therefore turning over better sail angle control to the main sheet
and thus the traveler. We think this also makes for smoother IMF furling.
I was afraid someone might ask so: $175 for certificate community
members, $275 for non members. Plus $25 S&H.

Not sure what you are referring to as the sheave. Going by memory, mine is simply a pulley that runs freely along the boom. The outhaul line should run from the end of the boom, through (or under) the pulley on the sliding car, through the pulley attached to the clew of the sail, back through the pulley on the sliding car, then back to the end of the boom where it runs down through the boom and is secured with a cam cleat. The sliding "pulley" car is moved to a position just behind the clew depending on where you have the sail reefed.
