[Rhodes22-list] V-berth base movement

First of all, thank you very much for providing us a new subject ;-)

I am not sure how you are set up, but my v-berth cushions have no plywood
built in to them. The only thing supporting the aft end of the v-berth
cushions is a four-sided shape made of 1/4" plywood that covers the void
where I keep my battery, water tank, and water pump. The shape spans the
void fore and aft and (almost) side to side. Two hinges on either side of
the centerline allow either side to open for access to the void as required,
while the middle portion sits flat on the thin ledge on the aft end and on
the fiberglass forward. If this slid forward off the thin ledge, it would
drop onto the water tank. I can imagine that there might be a problem,
especially since *I* have no other backing for the cushions.

How about self-adhesive Velcro? I would put a strip near the centerline of
the boat both on the narrow strip and on the fiberglass encasing the forward
flotation, and corresponding strips on the thin plywood. I would keep it
near the centerline and between the hinges on the plywood, so the ends will
still open easily if you need access. Even better might be the Velcro-like
heavier duty stuff we use up here to attach RFID toll transponders to your
windshield. I don't know what it's called.

I doubt that the plywood would shift if it were velcroed down with one or
more persons weight on top of it.

Even lower tech solution: duct tape the forward end of the plywood to the
fiberglass.

My $0.02.

Wow, has it really been almost ten years?

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] V-berth base movement

New subject!
We have had a problem on every trip with the thin plywood of the (aft end of
the) v-berth cushions slipping forward off the narrow ledges of the half
bulkhead. The cushions are backed with thin flexible plywood and don't
support weight well when not supported at their aft end. Do others have this
issue? How have you dealt with it? Ellyn wants it fixed and I have had no
success. The cushions keep sliding forward an inch or so and dropping down.
Help!
