Bottom paint of course. Flushing your outboard with fresh water when you can helps prolong its life. Elbow grease on stainless to keep it bright. Salt environment harsher in general on gel coat but nothing good waxing twice a year wont address. Bird droppings go to a whole new level. 

Another topic is safety. Fog in the PNW may cause you to consider a radar reflector if you'll be near shipping lanes. Extreme cold water means navigation and man overboard recovery is critical.

Where in the Northwest are you considering?  It's a beautiful part of the country. We lived in Seattle for four years and enjoyed seeing as much as we could.
