Here's a photo of a slightly older GBI furler. There are several
different versions over the years, maybe even many different versions.
The key to knowing if you have a GBI furler is - does the sail attach
directly to an aluminum furling tube either with a sleeve around the
tube or fed into a slot in the tube and held in place with machine
screws or with tabs that attached to fittings screwed onto the tube.
If so, you have a GBI furler.
With the CDI, there is an internal halyard and a PVC extrusion covers
the forestay. The sail feeds into a slot in the extrusion and is held
in place by that internal halyard.
Send Stan pictures of the top and bottom of your broken stay and he
can replace it. Or if you live in a place where there are lots of
sailboats there will be riggers who can duplicate your forestay. It's
not a big job. You will need to lower the mast to get to the top fitting.
