That's easy enough. There is way too much leverage coming from the
mast for the through bolts to hold. Once the mast starts to go, it is
gone and the through bolts will not help, they'll only rip up the top
of your cabin at the same time. So instead of a easy quick repair,
you are done for the season.
There is a reason why no manufacturer of boats with deck stepped masts
uses through bolts.
