Bill,
Our alum, Ron Singerman, might - otherwise, anybody planning? Not sure what day, likely will depend on your agenda. Saturday might be busiest in a not so busy show venue...

Art,
Thanks for the heads up on the St. Pete Boat Show. It definitely overlaps when I will be down there. What day are you going to be there? Any other Rhodies planning to attend?

Bill,
There is a good chance our schedules could match as I will be at the R22 booth during the St Pete boat show, which. I think is that week.
My # is 404 295-7777 (cell). I will check the show dates this afternoon as I am in the middle of building a cover right now.
Thanks for the heads up.

Have a nice day !

moving on to Florida
I am going to be in Bradenton, FL (near Sarasota) during the first week of December for my daughter's soccer tournament. It is a national finals and so they will play only one game per day so I will have some free time. Any Rhodies live nearby? I would love to meet and sail and trade sailing stories.

Ted, Jim,
The mention of two sails connected to a single forestay doesn't seem possible. Now, having two stays connected at the masthead is very feasible and is consistant with word that I picked up recently that Stan is exploring a variation of a cutter rig for our boat, something I have explored in a different way. If one stay is oriented forward of a second stay, both in the foredeck area, both sails (larger, like a 130 in front, and a smaller one slightly further toward the stern) you would in theory create an improved vertical 'wing' at the bow, ergo more drive power for the boat. The greater forward 'lift' would also be enhanced with the slot effect between the two sails.
The tricky part comes in tacking, which would more involved. I, like you, look forward to Stan's positive results in this, which I am sure he will have. I will happily contribute my possible effort to the results. The question may eventually become: 'do Rhoadies want a more complicated rig if they are not inclined toward racing competition'. This could be exciting.
Re. warm Florida in the wintertime, Come on down, you frozen Rhoadies. There are R22's I know of in St. Pete and in Stuart, I think one of our skippers moves his boat between Tampa and colder sites with the seasons. I wonder that more in our fleet do not extend or accept sailing hospitalities, given that our fleet is so well spread out. When an R22 Skipper, Bob Keller, with wife Sheila, made a week long cruising junket twice a year from Savannah to the Fort Myers area, the frost line, and thoroughly enjoyed!
Best to the fleet,
Art

Lol, that's hilarious.
I just received my 130 in the mail today from Stan. Too bad the snow is on the way. I gotta move back to Florida so I can sail all year! New England is just way too cold for me.
I am confident the 130 will be more than enough sail for my taste. I'd love to to go out on someone's boat with the UPS. Sounds like a great sail for light air.
Cheers,
Ted
