Hi jimloux (if that's your real name):
Welcome to the family, and tell us about your boat: year, port, maybe your experience. This is a great boat and it comes with a custom made cadre of smart, informed and friendly people like you. Everyone is willing to help.
On the matter of a motor: The 20 inch shaft will do, but a 25 would be a bit better, I think. You can use the motor lift to adjust the depth when you want something more shallow. Sometimes, when riding the wakes from other boats, my 20 inch shaft pops out of the water and the motor races with no resistance on the prop. I wishI had gotten the 25. The power depends on where you'll be sailing her. I am on the Upper Chesapeake and have a 6 hp. It does me well, since I am not in a race and have no real ocean swells to battle. I am a bit slow if I am coming in against a big tide. The 6 is also very good on gas. Three and a half gallons last me the entire season: April to late October. Good luck. Remember to sign your posts. ttfn.
