[Rhodes22-list] Goodeneck

Ric,
I had a standard mast on my old boat and can't say I've seen a slider like this one. Mike actually used photos of my old boat (or at least they look like my old boat) in his previous post. Repeated here for discussion purposes.

My old pop top slider looked like:

No pin like on Ric's rig. To hold it in the correct vertical position, you had to put a nail through holes in the side of the mast, list those shown for the gooseneck:

Note the rusty nail that is holding the gooseneck up. Not a very user friendly system. The "pin system", like what is used on the IMF is a much better system.

That being said, Ric, you would have to have a hole in the forward side of your mast where the pin engages?

Or, now looking again at your photo:

You do have the "holes in the mast where you can use a nail" to hold the pop top slider up. Again, not a real good system, but you might want to see if that works for you. - rob

Ric,

First, this is a standard mast (not IMF). The pin should seat in the gooseneck slide at the fully raised position of the pop-top to hold the top from dropping down while sailing. The plastic has seen too much weather and needs replacement. The easiest solution is to order it from General Boats unless you wish to make your own from components by dwyer or rigrite.
