>From the picture, I will guess your boat was built before 1975? If so, you do not have a centerboard cap and gasket. The board comes out from below.

I think my keel caps have been glassed over (very poorly) because I have
what looks like a solid keel trunk with a few holes in them from where the
dagger board was pushed up too high. I think I can return that to it's
original state with a skill saw and some fiberglass.
