Wow..sounds like you have quite a project there. My ports leaked a bit too even in the newer boat...must be a design flaw.... Love doing "what can't be done" after doing the impossible my usual reply is " nobody told me it couldn't be done"! What do you sail in the meantime? If you do?
Here's to a healthy and productive summer. Send me a picture when you get a chance.ps...if your main sail has the letters RC it's a Continental...but then again, you probably knew that!
